Deuter Welcomes Jesse Spiegel to the Team!

Jesse_BlogIntro_1We are pleased to have Jesse Spiegel on our Ambassador team. With nearly 20 years of climbing under his belt, we’re happy to have his knowledge and experience in the mountains to tap into. His passion for the vertical world started young in New York and has inspired him to travel near and far, including an expedition this past year to Patagonia. Now based in Colorado, Jesse pursue his passions in the high country. Learn a little more about him, below.

What is your core sport(s)?
Climbing everything, especially rock. Skiing. Mountaineering

What other sports do you participate in or sort of fun do you enjoy?
Yoga, jumping off stuff, tubing, swimming in the creek, handstand competitions, slacklining, dog training

Jesse_BlogIntro_3What is your most epic outdoor adventure to date?
My first winter solo may take the cake. I climbed Holy Cross via the Halo Ridge Route. A route that to my knowledge had not been climbed in the winter in 15 years and even then not solo. It was about 40 miles of ridge climbing, with some rock climbing, ice climbing, and steep snowfields mixed in. Summiting Notch Mountain on the way via an amazing rock/ice pitch made me cry (with joy). It was truly one of the most amazing and spiritual adventures of my life.

I started expecting a 3-day event. It ended up taking 6.

What is your "go-to" Deuter product?
That’s hard to say. I have a bunch of packs and they each have their place. But if you’re going to make me choose I will name a few I couldn’t do without. First my Guide 45+ - not to big not to small, great features, love this pack. Then my Freerider Pro 30. So sick, it looks cool as hell and great for back country skiing and just around town. I just got this pack and am stoked to use it some more. And last but certainly not least my Aircontact Pro 70+15. A must have for any big trip or expedition.
